Christopher Wool is well-known for his monotype over photogravure works of art and Untitled, created in 2014, is no exception. This piece is quite the example of urban and modern art we see in the 20th century. Wool's use of negative space created a different feel for the image. The red and black perfectly enclosed in a square shape create a feel of free but captivated emotion. The red is a very bloodlike bright color and the black is more of an off-gray. The emotion is up to interpretation, but I feel a feeling of conflict between fear and captivity.
